Guide to Classical Intermediate Piano Literature

This Guide contains over 220 selections from the Baroque period through the 20th century, each with comments on the relative difficulty and technical/artistic characteristics of the piece.

Each piano piece is given a number (1- 6) representing level of difficulty, (1) being the lowest or "very easy" for an intermediate pianist and (6) being quite difficult. Assigning such a number is of course relative and subjective, and what is difficult for some may not be for others. They are simply included as a suggested guide. The guide is broken down into six tables, with each table representing one of the difficulty levels as shown in the table below.

Each piece also has comments. The first comment is on tempo and key signature, followed by additional comments on technical and artistic aspects of the piece. For a more detailed description of the comments, see the Table Guide at the beginning of each difficulty level.

Each piece lists the Source and Title along with a direct link to the piece at Sheetmusicplus.com where you can easily purchase the selection. Pieces are grouped together by "Source/Collection" so only the first piece in a group contains the sheetmusicplus.com link.
