Masters Degree in Flute Performance with minor in piano, University of Memphis.
Over 35 years experience in private studio and group teaching of all levels from pre-elementary to post-graduate levels.
Highly experienced and qualified to teach flute, piano in all levels. Also able to teach early levels of other woodwinds and recorder.
Extensive performance experience in solo, chamber, theater, orchestral, and jazz/pop venues. Available for parties, weddings, and concerts in many combinations of instruments and styles from small to large and classical to pop |
Biography |
Connie Beach has played with the Germantown, Tupelo, and Memphis Symphonies, and the Charlotte Symphony and Charlotte Philharmonic, and Union Symphony.
Before coming to Charlotte in 2001, she was an active performer and teacher in Memphis, Tennessee, having performed live and in the studio with Isaac Hayes, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, and numerous area church and free-lance orchestras, and with the chamber groups Pyramid Winds, Trio Classique and the Lorelei Duo. She was a featured soloist with the Germantown Symphony, performing the Nielsen Concerto and the Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp with Carrol McLaughlin. In Memphis, she was co-founder and past president of the Memphis Flute Society and past president of the Germantown Collierville Area Piano Teachers Association, and served as Editor, Activities and Organizations for NFA On-Line. National Flute Association - 2000-2002.
Here in Charlotte, she serves as associate director of the Charlotte Flute Choir, the Junior Flute Choir through Community School of the Arts, past president of Chamber Music of Charlotte, and is actively performing in numerous other local chamber groups, including, Idyllwood flute and guitar duo, Camerata Charlotte, Madeira Trio, and Chamber Music of Charlotte, and other free-lance chamber groups. Also, she plays with Gifford Cordova and Epic Sound, which does a combination of New Age/Jazz, which has performed at Spirit Square, CPCC, and other local venues, and Little Dis N Dat, an eclectic mix of pop/jazz/funk/and new age.
Teachers have included flute studies with Paul Eaheart, Univ of Memphis; Murray Panitz, Philadelphia Orchestra; Joyce Catalfano, Mobile Symphony; Bruce Erskine, University of Memphis; Benoit Fromanger, Munich Symphony; Kathleen Chastain, Oberlin; Alexa Still, New Zealand Orchestra, Univ. of Colorado, Boulder; Jan Gippo, St. Louis Symphony; Eric Gratton; Nashville Symphony, Becky Arrenson, Indianapolis Symphony. |
