Kelly Weeks is a talented, young and energetic guitar, banjo and mandolin teacher. He has been teaching lessons for almost five years at Schmitt; he teaches all levels of guitar, from beginner to advanced. His students have ranged between the ages of 5 and 65. Kelly’s areas of interest in teaching include, but are not limited to, Classic Rock, Bluegrass, Country Western, Finger Picking Blues, Christian, Slide, Old Time, Grunge, and Shred. However, he is willing to accommodate the interests of his students.

Kelly is a professional, performing musician and began his musical career as a singer/songwriter. One of his most significant musical accomplishments is having his original music played on various programs on MTV. Kelly obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts in 2003, and he is currently pursuing a Master’s in Teaching Instrumental Music Education as well as a K-12 Minnesota teaching license from Hamline University.

Kelly has played in several local bands, one of which is the Power of 10, a well- known rhythm and blues band that has been playing around the Twin Cities for the past 10 years. He is currently performing weekly in a country band at Stasiu’s bar in Northeast Minneapolis, as well as with a worship band at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Maplewood, MN.
